What documents do I need for bike purchase?

Can I purchase a motorbike if I’m on a temporary / tourist Visa?

• Yes, you can purchase a motorbike even if you’re on a temporary / tourist visa, as long as you provide us with a Residence Certificate.


What is the Residence Certificate?

RESIDENCE CERTIFICATE

Residence Certificate
• The “Residence Certificate” is a legal document that provides proof of your address in Thailand
• We need to submit this document to the Transport Office for your motorbike registration.

How to Get Residence Certificate
• You can get this document from the Immigration Office (200 baht).
(Just bring your passport, and ask for “Residence Certificate”)
• The address on the Residence Certificate can just be a temporary one. So you can get this document even if you are on a tourist / temporary visa. Simply use the address of your hotel / temporary housing.

Submitting Residence Certificate
• We will need the original document.
• We will not be able to return this document to you.
• The Residence Certificate usually expires within 30 days. Please make sure that the document is not already expired (or within 3 days of expiration).

**If you do not wish to go to the Immigration Office to make Certificate of Residence, you can pay 2,000 and we will handle the process for you.


For registration, can I use other types of documents besides the Residence Certificate?

• If you have work permit or Yellow Book (House Registration Book), then you do not need the Residence Certificate.
• Otherwise, Residence Certificate is the only valid document.

Please note that the TM30 form is NOT the same as Residence Certificate, and cannot be used as a substitute for Residence Certificate.

Do I need a Thai driving license to purchase the motorbike?

Driving License
• No, you do not need a Thai driving license to purchase the motorbike.
• However, you do need to one in order to legally drive in Thailand.

How to Make Driving License
• You can make a Thai driving license at the Transport Office (DLT).
• You can also make your driving license at the Honda Safety Riding Center located in Thalang, Phuket. They have excellent facilities and provide their courses in English.
• The Driving License Course provided by Honda Safety Riding Center costs about 2,000 baht, and includes both practical and written test (2 days in total).

Besides the price of the motorbike, are there any other additional payments?

• There are no additional costs. The price on display already includes registration fee, government health insurance and tax.
**Except for Giorno model — there is additional 1,500 for registration.
• We will also provide a free helmet, and 2 liters of gasoline.


Do you provide discounts for cash payments or multiple purchase?

• Since we’re an authorized dealership, we are required to sell our motorbikes at a standard price. This means that we are not able to provide discounts — even for cash payments and multiple purchase.


Can I trade-in my old motorbike?

• We don’t do trade-ins, but we can recommend a shop that buys secondhand motorbikes at a fairly reasonable price:

How do I make a booking for a motorbike?

• If the motorbike you’re looking for is not readily available in stock, you can make a booking (1,000 deposit).
• We will contact you when your motorbike arrives.
• Please bring your booking receipt when you come in to pick up the motorbike. Otherwise, we will not be able to return the deposit back to you.


Once I make the full payment, when will I receive my motorbike?

• Once you’ve made the full payment, we will start preparing your new motorbike, as well as the documents.
• Our technician will do a complete pre-delivery inspection on your new motorbike (including tire pressure check, engine oil check and battery check).
• The entire process should take about 45-60 minutes.


How many sets of keys will I receive?

REMOTE KEY
MANUAL KEY

Manual Keys
• Motorbikes with manual gear transmission (including Wave, Supercub and sports models) will come with 2 sets of manual keys.

Remote Keys
• Motorbikes with automatic transmission (including Scoopy, Lead, Giorno, Click, PCX, ADV, Forza) will come with 1 set of remote key.
• We recommend that you make an extra remote key (1,500 baht).
• You can come back to make an extra key at any time in the future.
• If you lose your key, we will have to get a third-party transport company to pick up your motorbike back to our service center (3,000 baht transport fee).


What documents will I receive on purchase?

• When you purchase the motorbike, you will receive these 2 documents. Please keep them in the motorbike at all times:

1. Blue Paper
• Since you will only receive the white number plate 3 months after purchase, this Blue Paper is a temporary proof of the white plate.
• If the police asks you about the red number plate, you can show them this Blue Paper.

2. Service Book
• Every time you come in for scheduled service, our technician will fill out the service table inside the service book.


What about motorbike registration?

Registration
• We will handle all the registration process for you.
• Your new motorbike will come with a red number plate (for temporary use).
• The white number plate + Green Book will arrive at our shop in 3 months. We will you contact you to come pick it up.

Picking Up Green Book + White Number Plate
• When you come in to pick up the documents, please bring the Blue Paper (that you’ve received on the day of purchase).
• Please bring your motorbike as well, so we can switch out the red number plate with the white number plate.
• If it’s inconvenient for you to bring in the motorbike, please bring the red number plate.
• If you are not in Thailand when the documents arrive, we will keep them for you until you return.


Do I have to pay Road Tax?

ROAD TAX STICKER

First Year Road Tax
• We will cover the cost of the Road Tax for you (only for the first year).
• You will receive the Road Tax Sticker after 3 months of purchase (same time as the white number and Green Book).

Road Tax Annual Renewal
• You will have to renew the Road Tax Sticker every year at the Transport Office.
(bring your passport and Green Book).
• You can check the expiry date on the Road Tax Sticker.
• Cost of Road Tax Sticker renewal:

‣‣• Motorbikes over 125cc = 900 baht


Am I covered under insurance?

Government Health Insurance
• We provide you with free Compulsory Government Health Insurance.
• In the case of accidents, it covers ONLY medical fee (30,000 maximum).
• It does NOT cover motorbike repair cost.
• It covers anyone riding your motorbike, and also the other person in the accident—regardless of who’s at fault.
• You will receive the paperwork for the Government Health Insurance after 3 months of purchase (same time as white plate and green book). But not to worry, you are fully covered by the Government Insurance the day you purchase the motorbike.


What about First Class Insurance?

• We don’t provide First Class insurance that covers motorbike repair costs. You will have to buy this from outside providers.

Documents for Insurance Company
• The insurance companies will usually ask to see some official documents of your motorbike (e.g. Model name, serial number, date of purchase). The Blue Paper that we provide should have all the information that they need.


Does my motorbike have warranty?

• Your motorbike is covered under warranty.
• Warranty Period: 3 years or first 30,000 km.
• Battery and Tire: 6 months or first 5,000 km.

Warranty Conditions
• Warranty does not cover for misuse, accident or lack of proper maintenance.
• Please note that you will lose the warranty if modifications are done to the motorbike. This includes modification of engine, shock absorber, tire and exhaust pipe.
• Please note that parking motorbikes near sea area may cause rusting. This is not protected under warranty. We advise you to wash and clean your motorbike daily to avoid rusting.


When should I come in for service?

• First service = 1,000 km
• After first 1,000 km = every 2,000 km
• No need to make appointments for service, just come in whenever convenient.


How much does service usually cost?

• Please note that maintenance service is not free.
• Standard maintenance mainly involves engine oil change.

• Besides engine oil change, our mechanic will always do a complete check-up on your motorbike— including the tire pressure, engine condition, as well as the conditions of easily worn out parts (e.g. brake pads, air filter and injection).
• Oil change and check-up usually takes about 30 minutes.


Where can I go for service?

• We recommend you come for service at our dealership (Phuket S.T.) We have 6 service centers across Phuket.
• If it’s inconvenient for you to come for service at our dealership, you can go for service at any Authorized Honda Dealership. Your service records will be stored in a centralized Honda Database.

I’m not sure how to operate my new motorbike. Can you help?

Our sales staff will give you a detailed introduction to the motorbike during delivery.

Manual Key System
• Motorbikes with manual gear transmission are usually simple to operate.

Remote Key System
• Motorbikes with remote key system requires a few more steps than manual key system. Our staff will teach you how to use the remote key.


Do I need to switch off the motorbike on the remote key?

• Yes, it is important that you switch off your motorbike with the remote key.
• If you don’t switch off the motorbike using the remote key, the motorbike will automatically lock itself when the remote is out of range. However, the motorbike might remain on stand-by mode, which will cause the battery to run out quickly.
• To ensure that the motorbike is completely shut off, always switch off the motorbike with the remote key.


What are these 2 sticks attached to my remote key?

• The 2 black plastic sticks are emergency keys. In the case that you lose your key, or you are not able to start the engine, you can use the emergency keys to unlock the seat — by inserting the key into the emergency lock (as shown in the image).


What is this barcode attached to my remote key?

• In the case that you lose your remote key, the numbers on the barcode can be used by our mechanic to pair your motorbike with a new remote key.
• We recommend that you keep the barcode at home (along with the plastic emergency keys).

Making a New Remote Key
• If you lose your remote key, please bring to us the barcode, as well as the plastic emergency keys.
• You will also have to bring in your motorbike into our service center. We don’t do on-site service, but we can get a third-party delivery company to pick up your motorbike to our nearest service center (3,000 baht transport fee).


What time of gasoline should I use?

• We recommend 95 gasoline.
